Host Families Needed for German Music Exchange Students

Batavia Music Families,

We have an exciting opportunity to bring a youth band from Germany to Batavia this summer. The GHO Symphonic Band from Heide, Germany, is coming to the Midwest as part of Blue Lake’s International Exchange Program. We are very excited about this exchange because in June the community of Heide will be hosting Blue Lake’s Northern Winds Symphony, directed by our own Mr. Heath and featuring several Batavia High School students.

The 49-member group will arrive the evening of July 13 and leave the morning of July 15. The evening of July 14 they will perform a concert for the community.

We need families to each host 2 members of the groups for the two nights that they are here. They do not need to have their own bedroom, just a comfortable place to sleep.

Hosting responsibilities will also include providing some meals, doing a fun local activity with them, and bringing them to the concert.

Please contact Abby Omerza at to volunteer or for additional information.

Even if you are not able to host, please watch for more details of the concert. We hope many of you will be able to attend this event.
