Sarah BenjaminPlease join Batavia Music Buffs in welcoming our new BHS Chorus Director, Sarah Benjamin! We look forward to an outstanding year of music in Chorus under her direction!

Bio from Bataviamusic.org: Sarah Benjamin comes to us from Minneapolis, Minnesota joining the faculty at Batavia High School teaching the five levels of curricular choir as well as directing Swingsingers. She received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Conducting from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Before her return to Illinois, Ms Benjamin served at Breck School as Head of Choral Activities and Performing Arts Department Head, and in the Minnetonka School District. Prior to her move to Minnesota, she conducted the choirs at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy here in Kane County. Ms. Benjamin is a fan of performing original new music, debuting several works at her alma mater, and is pleased to again find performance opportunities in the city. Writing and presenting at various educational conferences, she launched an original secondary education course, Composition of Mixed Media for Social Change.

Ms. Benjamin, a native of West Central Illinois, along with her husband, Michael, enjoy three grown sons and an active lifestyle that includes local races, biking and travel.
