Welcome New BHS Orchestra Director Nathan Sackschewsky!
Bio from Bataviamusic.org: Nathan Sackschewsky has been teaching orchestra since 2006 after receiving his Bachelors degree from Augustana College in Music Education. At Batavia High School, Mr. Sackschewsky will teach Concert, Symphony, Philharmonic, and Chamber Orchestras. He began his career teaching 4th through 8th grade orchestra in Buffalo Grove. He also taught orchestra, guitar and piano at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, IL. Mr. Sackschewsky received his Masters degree in Arts Management from Columbia Collage in Chicago. While at Columbia he interned with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Midwest Young Artists. He currently serves as the Director for the Young Music Scholars program at MYA, which is an outreach program that pairs underserved students from Waukegan, North Chicago, and Highwood with mentors from the MYA Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Sackschewsky is an active performer in the Chicago area, performing viola with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra and the Jan Sobieski String Quartet. In his free time, Mr. Sackschewsky enjoys traveling, skiing, mountain biking, and boating with his wife Robin and his dog Arco.
